What you can investigate

Questions this connection can actually support.

  • Traffic and acquisition

Compare channels, sources, mediums, and campaigns, and see whether sessions moved with the mix.

  • Pages and landing pages

See which pages or landing pages account for a change in sessions, engagement, or key events.

  • Engagement and key events

See whether people stayed, and whether the actions you count still happened, when the number of sessions did not move.

  • Change over time

Compare a period with the matching earlier window, or follow the same measures by date. Standard reports close at yesterday.

  • What is happening now

A separate realtime view covers current users by page, event, location, and device. It is not the same report as the historical tools.

Questions you can ask

Asked from the AI tools you already use.

Illustrative answer

Why did key events fall last week?

  1. 01 Evidence

Sessions were nearly flat, 4,960 to 4,910. Key events fell from 320 to 210. The drop sat in organic search, and two landing pages accounted for most of it.

  2. 02 Context

The team counts a key event as a qualified enquiry form. A form change shipped on Tuesday and is not yet written into the property notes.

  3. 03 Reading

The traffic mix does not explain the drop. Check the form change before treating this as an acquisition problem.

Sample figures, not a customer result.

  • Which channel changed most over the last 28 days?
  • Did sessions stay steady while key events fell?
  • Which landing pages account for the change in sessions?
  • How did engaged sessions and average session duration move together last month?
  • What is on the site right now, by page and device?

How the integration works

Connect the account, then ask from a compatible client.

  1. 01

Connect Google Analytics in Lytically. Google asks you to authorize read-only Analytics access, plus the identity scopes used to recognize the account.

  2. 02

Lytically lists the GA4 properties that grant can see. Choose the properties an investigation may use. If more than one is selected, name the property in the question.

  3. 03

Those properties make the Analytics tools available on Lytically’s MCP connection. ChatGPT, Claude, and other compatible clients call the tools and receive results, not your Google credentials.

  4. 04

Standard reports run through yesterday. Realtime is a separate tool for current activity.

The same tools are available to a Routine, which repeats an investigation on a schedule you set.

Available analytical capabilities

What the tools cover, and what they leave out.

Properties

GA4 properties discovered on the connected Google account. You choose which ones Lytically may use. Several properties on one Google account are still one connection.

Operations

List selected properties, an overview, traffic sources, page or landing-page performance, realtime, and a flexible query limited to an allowlist of dimensions and metrics.

Breakdowns

Traffic can be split by channel, source, medium, source and medium, or campaign. Page performance covers pages or landing pages. Realtime can split overview, pages, events, locations, and devices.

Measures

Active users, new users, sessions, engaged sessions, engagement rate, average session duration, event count, key events, and total revenue, where the property reports them. Landing-page rows include sessions, users, engagement, duration, and key events.

Freshness

Named periods end yesterday. Presets include yesterday, the last 7, 28, and 30 days, this month, and last month, or a start and end date. A comparison uses the equal-length window before that period. Realtime is current activity.

Access

Google OAuth with openid, email, and the read-only Analytics scope. That scope cannot change the property. Tools run for the Lytically account on the MCP connection, and only for properties selected there. The flexible query can use custom event, user, and item fields named the way Google Analytics names them. It does not open the rest of the API. The grant is not sent to the AI client.

Better together

More useful next to another connected source.

Analytics answers what happened on the site. Another connected system can show whether that movement also appeared in search, ads, or the CRM. Each tool is called on its own. Lytically does not join a session to a contact or a click.

  • Google Search Console

Organic clicks rose in Search Console while Analytics sessions did not. Search performance, traffic sources, and landing pages can be read in the same investigation. A shared conclusion still depends on which visit the business counts.

    Explore Google Search Console

  • Google Ads

Paid clicks and on-site sessions answer different questions. Campaign performance and traffic sources can be compared for the same dates. That comparison is not an attribution model.

    Explore Google Ads

  • HubSpot

Key events and new contacts can move differently. Analytics does not know deal stages. HubSpot does not know landing pages. The assistant can call both and keep the evidence separate.

Questions

Before you connect Google Analytics.

Can I use this integration with ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Connect the client to Lytically’s MCP server. The Analytics tools appear when at least one GA4 property is selected. The client receives report results, not the Google grant.

Does Lytically store my Analytics data?

Lytically stores the encrypted Google grant and the properties you select. Reports are read from Google Analytics when a tool runs. The property is not copied into a warehouse. A Routine can keep the written report from a run, and that report may include figures from the investigation.

What permissions does Lytically require?

Read-only access to Google Analytics, plus openid and email so the connected Google account can be recognized. Lytically does not request a scope that can change the property.

Can I connect multiple properties?

Yes. You can connect more than one Google account, and select more than one GA4 property on a grant. When several properties are selected, the question needs to name which one.

How current is the data?

Standard reports end yesterday. Use the realtime tool for current users, pages, events, locations, and devices. A comparison looks at the equal-length period immediately before the one you asked about.

Can I combine this data with other integrations?

The assistant can call Search Console, Google Ads, or HubSpot in the same investigation. Each call stays on its own source. Lytically does not merge them into one table.
