What you can investigate

Questions this connection can actually support.

  • Account performance

See whether spend and results moved together, and whether the change was across the account or limited to a device or network.

  • Campaigns, ad groups, and keywords

Understand which campaigns, ad groups, or keywords are driving a higher acquisition cost.

  • Search terms

See the queries people actually typed, not only the keywords that were added.

  • Where the account looks weak

Spot spend that is not producing clicks or conversions, and places where return has fallen.

Questions you can ask

Asked from the AI tools you already use.

Illustrative answer

Why did acquisition cost rise last month?

  1. 01 Evidence

Spend rose from $18,400 to $24,100. Conversions moved from 96 to 101. CPA rose. The increase concentrated in two campaigns, and broader search terms showed up in the matched queries.

  2. 02 Context

The team counts an Ads conversion as a form submit, not a qualified opportunity. Qualified pipeline is recorded in HubSpot.

  3. 03 Reading

Ads shows a more expensive click mix. It does not show whether those clicks became qualified deals. That question needs the CRM, read separately.

Sample figures, not a customer result.

  • Which campaigns moved spend without a matching move in conversions?
  • Which search terms did the ads match last month?
  • Where is CPA high relative to the rest of the account?
  • Did the change sit in one ad group, or across a keyword set?
  • Which keywords are spending with a weak click-through rate?

How the integration works

Connect the account, then ask from a compatible client.

  1. 01

Connect Google Ads in Lytically and authorize the Google Ads scope, plus the identity scopes. Access uses the Cloud project behind Lytically’s Google sign-in. You do not supply a developer token.

  2. 02

Lytically discovers customers, including accounts under a manager. Choose the customers to investigate. Manager accounts can appear in the list and are refused when a report is requested.

  3. 03

If more than one reporting customer is selected, name the customer in the question. The tools then appear on the MCP connection.

  4. 04

Reports end yesterday in that customer’s timezone.

The same tools are available to a Routine, which repeats an investigation on a schedule you set.

Available analytical capabilities

What the tools cover, and what they leave out.

Customers

Selected Google Ads customers. Manager accounts may be listed so the hierarchy is visible. Reporting against a manager is refused. Routing uses the login customer stored for that account. The tools do not accept or return that id.

Operations

List selected customers, an overview, campaign performance, ad group performance, keyword performance, search terms, and opportunities. There is no open-ended query language.

Measures

Spend, clicks, impressions, click-through rate, average CPC, conversions, conversion value, CPA, and ROAS. Rank by spend, clicks, impressions, conversions, conversion value, CPA, or ROAS.

Opportunities

Wasted spend, low click-through rate, high CPA, or declining ROAS. Thresholds can be set, and high CPA defaults to the account CPA. The scan uses the top spend-sorted rows and returns at most 50.

Freshness

Presets end yesterday in the customer timezone, which defaults to Pacific if the customer has none. A comparison uses the previous window of the same length.

Access

Google OAuth with openid, email, and the Google Ads scope. That scope is what Google requires for Ads API access. It is not a read-only scope. Lytically's tools only run reports. They do not change campaigns, bids, or keywords, and they do not send the grant to the AI client. Tools run for the Lytically account on the MCP connection, and only for customers selected there.

Better together

More useful next to another connected source.

An Ads conversion is the conversion action in that account. It is not a HubSpot deal, and it is not an Analytics session. The assistant can read the other systems for the same dates and keep those definitions apart.

  • Google Analytics

Paid clicks rose while organic sessions did not. Campaign performance and Analytics traffic sources can be compared. They do not share one attribution path.

  • HubSpot

Spend and Ads conversions rose, and deals won did not. Ads shows the auction. HubSpot shows contacts and deals created or closed in the period. Lytically does not attribute a deal to a campaign.

Questions

Before you connect Google Ads.

Can I use this integration with ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. After a non-manager customer is selected, the Ads tools are available through Lytically’s MCP connection. The client can ask about spend, campaigns, keywords, search terms, and opportunities.

Does Lytically store my Ads data?

Lytically stores the encrypted Google grant and the customers you select, including the routing metadata needed to reach them. Performance is read from Google Ads when a tool runs. The account is not copied into a warehouse. A Routine can keep the written report from a run, and that report may include figures from the investigation.

What permissions does Lytically require?

The Google Ads scope, plus openid and email. That scope is broader than reporting. You do not paste a developer token. Lytically does not offer a tool that changes campaigns, bids, or keywords.

Can I connect multiple accounts?

Yes. Select the customers to investigate. Manager accounts stay visible and cannot be the subject of a report. With several reporting customers selected, name the customer id in the question.

How current is the data?

Reports end yesterday in the customer’s timezone. Currency and timezone come from that customer. A comparison is the previous period of the same length, not a custom fiscal calendar.

Can I combine this data with other integrations?

Yes. Analytics can describe the sessions those dates produced. HubSpot can describe contacts and deals. Ads conversions stay Ads conversions unless your own definition says otherwise.
